ANZAC Day 2025: Honouring the ANZAC Spirit at Life Health Services

ANZAC Day 2025 is more than just a national public holiday—it’s a moment of reflection, connection, and deep appreciation for the values that define Australia: courage, mateship, and resilience.

At Life Health Services, these values are at the heart of the support we provide year-round. But on 25 April 2025, we came together across all sites to honour ANZAC Day 2025 with our participants, staff, and broader community.

Reflecting on the Meaning of ANZAC Day 2025

Across our services, participants engaged in a series of optional but meaningful activities to reflect on the ANZAC legacy in a way that respects their individual preferences and cultural backgrounds. These included:

  • Creating red poppies and paper wreaths
  • Listening to stories about the ANZAC spirit and resilience
  • Quietly listening to ‘The Last Post’ and observing a minute of silence
  • Drawing or crafting responses to “What peace means to me”

NDIS-Compliant Activities That Brought the Day to Life

All activities were designed to be inclusive, safe, and respectful—meeting NDIS Practice Standards around participant dignity, cultural sensitivity, and informed choice. We encouraged creativity while allowing participants to opt out or take part in alternative, quiet time.

How Life Health Services Supported Participants on ANZAC Day 2025

We understand that commemorations may affect people differently. That’s why we offered support in several flexible ways:

Participants who wanted to attend dawn services or local ANZAC events were supported by Disability Support Workers (DSWs) with adjusted rosters to accommodate their choices.

Not everyone wishes to engage with commemorative events. Our staff ensured that peaceful environments and calming activities were available as alternatives—aligning with person-centred supports.

Carrying the ANZAC Spirit Through 2025

The ANZAC spirit isn’t just for one day. We carry its values—unity, respect, and courage—into every service we provide, every day of the year.

This commitment reflects our dedication to:

  • Supporting participant choice and control
  • Promoting cultural understanding and awareness
  • Fostering meaningful community inclusion

Have ideas for future ANZAC Day commemorations at Life Health Services? We’d love to hear from you. Collaboration helps us grow, and your feedback ensures we deliver services that truly reflect our shared values.

Lest We Forget.
