Disability Support Worker

Disability support workers provide support services that fulfil the living, social and reactional requirements and needs of people living with a disability. To enable personal development and honing of skills, a carer will promote community interaction and inclusion, independence, personal growth and decision making.
•    Key responsibilities and duties:
o    Promote residents participate in age appropriate activities and tasks within the community and at home
o    To help the resident engage in outings and daily activities and promote involvement in the community
o    Provide direct care in accordance with the NDIS plan
o    Abide by the medication administration policy, WHS procedures and client rights policies
o    Ensure the safety and wellbeing of resident by reporting any issues and concerns to the appropriate persons
o    Provide 1:1 care or small group support
o    Ensure documentation and information relating to the resident is accurately and appropriately recorded
Mandatory requirements:
•    Cert IV in Disability or Cert III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability, HACC optional) or equivalent  
•    Two Reference checks
•    Current police check (less than 6 months old)
•    Working with Children Check
•    Current First Aid Level 2
•    Current CPR (Annual)
•    Manual Handling
A working permit is required for those on a special visa (e.g. student visa)

Desirable requirements:
•    Administration of Medication (optional)
•    Work experience
